Iris Van Herpen Boasts Kinetic Fashion For Paris Haute Couture Week

Kinetic fashion is the overarching theme of Dutch designer Iris van Herpen's debut during Paris Haute Couture week. The collection is simply titled 'Hypnosis,' which is an apt name for the visual effects that the garments instill in those viewing them. Much like the rest of her designs, Iris van Herpen sets herself apart with her sculptural take and cross-industry-referencing motifs. This year's kinetic fashion is a great example. She drew inspiration from artist Anthony Howe. The main materials used for the silhouettes are enticing, to say the least — from "luminous silk organza and Duchesse-satin" to "aluminum and stainless steel."

The idea behind van Herpen's kinetic fashion is to call attention to patterns of nature, "reflecting on the beauty and complexity of our environment."
