Check Out Luxury Outdoor Brand Templa’s Third Collection
Templa, the Australian-Belgian luxury alpine and outerwear brand, known for its slick, futuristic aesthetic, has launched its third collection. This season the label explored contrasts, as seen with the apparel’s mixture of neutral and muted hues as well as its use of innovative technologies, finished with artisanal craftsmanship detailing.
“The polarities unify the unexpected and bridge worlds that [usually] don’t meet,” Rob Maniscalo, co-founder and creative director of Templa tells Highsnobiety. “The collection comes back to the environments Templa lives in, ranging from brutalist architecture to back country mountain ranges.”
It’s been a big first year for the brand, which also carries womenswear. Founded by Maniscalo, Dallano Pereira and Anati Rakocz – veterans of Haider Ackermann, Ann Demeulemeester and Claude Maus – in December 2017, Templa has gone on to win the ISPO Brand New award, an important award for performance startups previously won by GoPro and Nixon. The 2018 Premium Young Designer Award was won soon after, making Templa the first ever winner of the prize’s Outdoor Apparel category.
The brand quickly gained traction among consumers and globally influential stockists alike as a result, and is currently sold in retailers including Barneys, MatchesFashion, Net-a-Porter and Lane Crawford.
While its fashion-forward, luxury appeal challenges the likes of Moncler, Arc’Teryx and Canada Goose, being functional remains equally important, argues Maniscalo. “Designing a collection that requires a level of function – where someone’s life may depend on it – and being uncompromising in your aesthetic is an interesting convergence.”
