Porsche’s New Tesla Rival Boasts 300-Mile Range And 670 Horsepower

Porsche has been working hard to create a Tesla S rival, and with newly-leaked details of the upcoming Mission E, it’s looking like the 87-year-old company is hot on the newcomer’s tailpipe. The Mission E will likely hit the market in 2019, and when it does, you will be able to choose from 300, 400 and 500 kW versions with a top speed of 155 mph, 670 horsepower and a 300-mile range.

The Mission E will reportedly go from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds (a full second slower than the fastest Model S). It will feature a two-speed transmission, all wheel drive, inductive charging and seats for four. Details on the exterior styling are slim, but it is expected to look close to the model recently revealed at the manufacturer’s website.

Reportedly, the Mission E will charge to 80 percent in just 20 minutes (without a cable, thanks to the induction charging) and will be fairly roomy inside, with extra access thanks to rear suicide doors. That said, it can only seat four to the Model S’ five. Think of it as a sports car with impressive electric capabilities rather than an electric sedan with a ton of speed, like the Model S.

If you want to get your hands on one, expect to shell out $75,00 to $80,000 to start (comparable with the Model S), with delivery likely happening sometime in 2020.
